Medium Hair Styles

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 19, 2009

Bangs have recently been reintroduced to most medium hair styles. However, these are not the bangs of the past. Today bangs are soft, blended and fringed. The new banged look is a great way to soften your look, add a new dynamic to your hairstyle and to modernize your old cut.

Curly Long Hair StylesAnother great medium length hair style is the layered cut. There are many layered hairstyles that work well with medium length hair. You may be familiar with the “Rachel cut” from the 1990s. This was a very popular layered cut. More modern layered cuts include the Asteroid, which is a very punk layered cut. Layered cuts are great for fine hair, thick hair and curly hair.

If you have a natural wave or curl to your hair then your hairstyles will need to work with the texture of your hair. You will need to find a hair stylist who will be able to work with your curls to create wavy hairstyles or curly hair styles that will be flattering to your face shape and that will also not frizz out of control. Your final hair cut should provide you with several styling options and it should also look great as it grows out.

After selecting your medium length hairstyle you will next need to learn about the types of hair care products you will need to use to keep it looking great. If you color your hair you will need to buy shampoos and conditioners that are formulated to maintain the brilliance of your hair color. If you have curly hair you will need to buy hair care products that enhance and define your curls. Finally you will need general maintenance products that will help you fortify your hair, protect it from over-styling and to provide it with the nutrients that it needs to stay healthy.

Different Facial Hair Styles

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 17, 2009

Ever since the invention of the razor several hundred years ago, man has had the capability to express himself through the art of facial hair styles. Some people go without a beard or any type of facial hair for a number of reasons. Maybe you can’t grow facial hair very well. Maybe you have to be clean shaven for work at all times. Maybe you just can’t find a style that works well for you. Regardless, there are still plenty of men who like to show off their facial hair style.

Great Looking Long HairFacial hair is something that defines men. Women can never really take this away from us. We are the only ones that are capable of growing a good amount of facial hair, and we are the only ones that will look good sporting it. Well, some styles look a little better than others. Let’s go over the major different types of facial hair, from the least amount of hair to the most amount.

Clean shaven: This is for the men who either can’t grow much facial hair, don’t like the look, don’t like the feel or simply look like a goof sporting any sort of style. It is pretty simple to maintain, but requires daily full shaves.

Mustache: Just a strip of hair on the upper lip. This style has been slowly going out of style, and younger men are sporting the mustache less and less as the trend is slowing down. There are some awkward stages in trying to grow the mustache, but once you have it going it looks pretty normal. You still need to shave every day; there is just a little less area to shave.

Goatee: This is basically a mustache that goes down and around the mouth. Your cheeks are still clean shaven, but you leave the spot around your mouth still grown out. This style looks good on some men but just terrible on others. You really need to have the ability to grow some good upper-lip hair to pull this off. Again, daily shaving is still needed but even less surface to shave than the mustache.

Neard: I think this is more of a joke. It stands for Neck-Beard. You shave everything except for your neck. This is only done when people are trying to look like a goof.

Chin strap: This is basically a strip that goes down your jaw line and connects at your chin. I have found it is difficult to keep the strip even without taking too much off.

The 5 o’clock shadow: This is my personal favorite. Just do a clean shave every other day. Or every three days. I typically go 5 days.

The Essence of Glamour – Trendy Hair Styles

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 16, 2009

IT is a complete fallacy that any person looks best in short hair, long hair, or medium-length hair. Any length can be becoming to you. What you must recognize is the limitations of each hair length, what hair styles can be worn with hair of that length, and if you will be happy within the limitations. There is a vast array of trendy hair styles which may suit you.

Sexy Long Hair StylesLet us suppose you choose shoulder-length hair. You could probably wear it in a pony tail, a pageboy, a chignon, an upsweep, or almost any kind of back-interest hairdo. If these were the things you wanted to do with your hair, then it would be a fine choice of length. But if you wanted the long hair to be worn in a poodle, or to make it appear short and forward in any way, it would obviously be impossible.

In deciding on the hair length you want, you must of course consider its texture and degree of curl. You realize that if in the case cited above the wearer’s hair is perfectly straight, she will need a permanent for practically all of the hairdos mentioned, except the pony tail and perhaps the chignon. Therefore if she wanted long hair but did not want to have a permanent, she would have to settle for the pony tail and forgo the others.

If you should choose medium-length hair, the way you wear it will be determined by the cut. For instance, if you wanted to wear it fluffy about the face, in most cases this would mean the very front ends would have to be cut a good deal shorter than the rest. Don’t make the mistake of leaving the front ends and curling them up tightly to make them appear short.

This point about cutting would apply to any length regardless of its over-all appearance which might at first glance indicate that “She wears her hair long” or “Her hair is medium-length.”

There is always a combination of several lengths. This, incidentally, is the way you achieve naturalness, because such a hairdo can be simply brushed into place, eliminating the need for setting it in pin-curls or fastening it with barrettes or bobby pins.

You may have been going along up to now on the assumption that your physical type or some other factor restricts you to wearing your hair in one length only. A little thought should convince you that there is no such thing as looking best in long hair or short. Just remember that the proper lines in any one of the many trendy hairstyles available can favor your face and features, regardless of the length of the hair.

To illustrate this point, imagine one model in two or more hairdos. This should prove my contention that there need be no restrictions as to hair length or style, no matter what type of face or features you have.

Most Popular Mens Hairstyles

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 16, 2009

Hairstyles are every bit as important for men as it is for women. We can see the latest fashions and hairstyles for men by watching the academy awards and the Oscars. We can also see the latest in these Mens Long Hairstyles on the reality shows like Blowout and Real World. As shown on Blowout, a great hairstyle can make a average person or even a ugly duckling a knockout. Jonathon does this on every episode of Blowout. Here are the great hairstyles for 2006 that are guaranteed to make you look better or at least make a statement.

Sexy And Dashing Long Hair StylesShort, styled, messy with highlights. Ryan Seacrest started this do. It is an easy to maintain look and had its starts with alternative rock bands whom have taken it to more extremes (spikes, different colors, etc…) This is a very easy hairstyle to manage. Just use hair spray, mousse whatever and twist a little here and pull a little there. Some women are also using this for short styles. This easy, messy do is here to stay.

The short business cut. This has always been in. Everyone from George Bush and Jeff Gordon to Jay Leno sport this one. It can be parted to either side, brushed back or down. There are many variations. Sometimes it even looks like a bowl cut – popularized in the days of Leave it to Beaver, the Beverly Hill Billies, Green Acres and other shows that highlighted inbreeding in society.

The mullet. This big hair style of the 80’s is actually making a comeback. Wrestlers, country singers, even wanna-be stars like Kevin Federline have been seen wearing mullets. The mullet originated with car salesmen in the 1970’s. It was a fun, easy do that was business in the front and party in the back. They could tie it in a pony tail and keep it under wraps at work and then let it out for partying. There are many variations even including the rat tail (hopefully this won’t come back). There isn’t much care needed for a mullet. What would George Bush, Dr. Phil, Ryan Seacrest, or even Simon Cowell look like with a mullet? I bet ratings for American Idol would double.

The medium-long cut. Basically this is where the hair is about 3-4 inches long across the top and shortened as it comes don the back to about 1-2 inches. One just puts moose or gel in it and works it in and then comes their hair back with their fingers. This is a cut primarily for those with wavy hair as it will show off and glamorize your curls. This is a star favorite – Antonio Banderas and Tom Cruise have sported this do several times throughout their careers.

Chrome dome. Going for that shiny top, bald look. It works for muscular or dominant people. Just look at Jesse Ventura, Michael Jordan, and UFC president Dana White. It used to be only worn by those going bald, but its popularity has grown to include kids, grandparents, even women looking to make a statement. There have even been people renting out ad space on their newly shaved head for quick cash. It is also a great place to try out a tattoo. If you find you don’t like the tattoo, just let your hair grow back.

There you have it. The popular mens hairstyles of this year and numerous variants.

To Get That Famous Hair Cut You Gotta Ask

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 16, 2009

There you are sitting at your dining room table with all those pictures of hair cuts spread out in front of you. You’ve managed to narrow it down to a few cuts and styles for hair that look just like your favorite celebrity. You’re trying to decide whether or not you want those trendy hair cuts.

Modern Layered HairstylesIt makes no difference whether you’re a man or a woman. Getting a great looking hair cut is important to your self image. Maybe you’re looking at pictures of short hair cuts because you’re thinking of going with a shorter look this time around. Bob hair cuts are always in style.

Maybe you’re looking at long layered hair cuts because you’ve always worn long hair cuts and you don’t want any changes to your “signature style”. Or, you wanna stick strictly with medium hair cuts because they’re more versatile.

I bet somewhere in those pictures hair cuts are a few celebrity photos featuring well coifed celebrities like Jennifer Aniston. Men’s celebrity hair cuts are popular as well. Want Brad Pitt’s hair cut? Better cough up some bucks.

Whatever hair cut style you choose, remember to bring a photo of the hair cut with you along to the salon so your stylist can see exactly what you desire. Your stylist may wish to make adjustments based on what looks most flattering for your features.

Always ask for exactly the style and cut that you want. While you may not end up looking exactly like your favorite celebrity after your hair cut, hopefully you will walk out of the salon feeling like a star.

Men: Do You Love Your Hair?

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 15, 2009

Let’s face it most men can be quite vain. Spending hours in front of the mirror, flexing those pecks, or even striking that killer pose to try and wow the ladies. However, one reason why men spend hours in front of the mirror is often to get their hair absolutely perfect. A wayward hair style throws the whole balance off and you have to start all over again if you cannot get it right.

Crazy Long Hair StylesWhy Looking after Your Hair is Important, Even For Men and the Styles which you can opt For!

Looking after your hair is an important part of looking good. If your hair is greasy or it has bits of last nights gooey gel left in it, how do you expect to get that style you are after. Greasy hair also attracts dirt and you could end up with skin problems as well as hair problems, then where will you be?

So, the first port of call is to take a good hard look at you, and judging by the amount of time that some men spend looking in the mirrors anyway, it should not be too hard!

Ask yourself if your hair too long, too short, or too messy? Also it is best to know what type of hair you actually have so that when you buy shampoo, you are purchasing the right one for you. Buying the wrong type of shampoo can potentially damage your hair so always take the time to find out which type you should actually be buying.

So how do you find out which shampoo is for you? Well, the best thing to do is to look carefully at your hair and ask yourself certain questions like: Do I have dandruff? Is my hair greasy or oily? Is my hair dry? Does my Hair? If you answer any of these questions as yes, then you are now aware of what your hair is like, thus you can make sure that you get the right shampoo for your hair type.

You can purchase a shampoo from all supermarkets and drugstores, as well as a big range available in certain hair salons. There is also an even bigger selection on the internet if you would prefer to shop online.

For men with longer hair, more care is obviously needed than it is for those with shorter hair. The shorter your hair, the easier it can be to manage. There are many styles that can be tried out for both men with long and short hair, and the trends change quite often. If stars and celebrities try out new haircuts that seem a bit outrageous, it can be guaranteed, many men will try these hair cuts out too.

How do you achieve these looks then? There are many products available absolutely everywhere, to help you to style your hair. There are gels, sprays, foams, all of which can achieve anything from simple styles, to radical, spiky, and completely wacky styles, you are certainly are spoilt for choice.

If you always go for the same hair cut, short back and sides or just plain and boring, you may be interested in trying out a new style. It may be that you have wanted to change your hair style for ages, but you are too scared to try anything different in case it does not look right, or suit you.

If you are uncertain as to what style to try, have a word with your nearest barber shop for an evaluation. They will be able to suggest ideas, and be able to help you make the right choice for you. If there is a style that you are brave enough to try, do not be afraid to tell the hairdressers or barbers about it. You can always cut out clippings from magazines or newspapers to take with you in order to show the hairdresser what style you were thinking of.

By taking care of your hair, it will take care of you. It can help with your appearance, and in turn that can do wonders for your confidence. They say you should not judge a book by its cover but unfortunately a lot of people do.

Overall, it is all down to personal preference and as long as you are happy with your hair it should not matter what anybody else thinks.

A General Review About Layered Hair Styles

Posted by Cool Long Hair Styles on July 15, 2009

Layered hair styles tend to work with most hair textures, lengths, and can add simple style to otherwise unflattering hair. They are not gender specific and are fairly easy to manage. Any low maintenance hair style is always a bonus. While long straight hair is the easiest to bring to life with a layered hair style, even “big” hair or curly hair can benefit, often being trimmed down to a more manageable size once it has been layered.

Long Curling Wedding Hair StylesMen with layered hair styles often find that they simple wash, towel dry, comb, and go. Women with layered hair style often find that they have to spend less time on their hair overall, some with the same convenience factors for men.

Fortunately, most layered hair styles can be around for many years, and it’s not dependent of fads or the “in” thing to do. A good hair style that works with a person’s facial features and personality is one worth keeping and it is always frustration when a fad that worked well has gone by the wayside. A good simple layering can often last for as long as the owner of the hair is inclined to keep it.

Layered hair styles tend to add volume to flat hair, reduce volume in wild hair, and add a bit of texturing. There’s no need to go to extremes, just simply a few layers to add the intention of the style and a trim every six to eight weeks to keep it from getting shaggy. Growing out a layered hair style is not all that difficult either, although for significant layering, a few trips to the scissors may be required simply to even things up from time to time.

Layers can either soften the appearance of the hair or they can actually add a lagged rough edge for a more edgy appearance. Which direction you choose to go is really dependent on the variations within your face, hair, the color and texture of your hair, and your personality. Sometimes, the perfect layered look on your best friend is going to look ridiculous on you, or vice versa. So rather than set your heart on one perfect style, gather a few general ideas and take them to your trusted stylist. Don’t have a trusted stylist? Then either ask around (your best friend with the great layers is probably a good resource) or bring a second pair of eyes with you that you know will tell you straight whether the plan in motion is working or not. It’s usually not recommended to go too drastic unless you have a previous relationship with a hair stylist.

Communication is the key to receiving an excellent layered hair style when visiting the stylist. Photos and a genuine conversation, as well as being open to his or her opinion, is the starting point to finding an awesome layered look. Simply looking around at the layered hair styles which catch your attention should give you an idea of what you’re thinking for yourself, but never argue too heavily with a professional stylist. The process of coming up with an awesome layered hair style that works for you requires input from each of you and a solid understanding before the first snip of hair hits the floor.
